Biography of Tod A.J. Geimer
Tod A.J. Geimer, the President of QuantumStep, Inc., has over 18 years experience in computers and technology management with a broad knowledge of programming, networking, telecommunications, hardware, and software design and development. He was Project Manager for dozens of successful software and technology projects and a key member of startups of two technology firms. His experience is both entrepreneurial and "intrapreneurial."
Tod Geimer was formerly a consultant at Deutsche Bank/NatWest in New York City. As part of his responsibilities, he led the project to install SWIFT Banking software and internal systems interfaces and managed the day-to-day operations of SWIFT that processed trillions of dollars daily. He led the departmental Y2K compliance project, which survived Y2K without any problems. After NatWest’s friendly acquisition by Deutsche Bank, he managed several projects to interface NatWest systems to Deutsche Bank systems. He was also part of the transition team for the Banker’s Trust acquisition and provided technical expertise for operation of the SWIFT system, Unix and NT networking.
Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Mr. Geimer was Vice President of Nextwave Communications, LLC, a Fort Lee, New Jersey-based technology firm. As an original member of the five-person start up team for the company, he directed the IT department and was an integral member of senior management team with marketing, personnel, and strategy responsibilities. He designed and implemented the thousand-user network and web hosting infrastructure and designed and developed video teleconferencing web site and applications. He also developed the Nextwave Communications traveling trade show demo.
As a consultanting Project Manager for IBJ Schroder, New York, an international bank, Mr. Geimer provided project management for the migration of a $20 million back office system from a mini-frame to LAN-based software. He led design and installation of fault tolerant, mirrored server Novell LAN with FDDI backbone. In addition to other repsonsibilities, he authored the project plan for the installation of a new banking system, and its LAN Design Proposal.
While at Daiwa Securities Trust Company, Jersey City, New Jersey, Mr. Geimer was promoted from Project Manager to Vice President/Systems Development. While there, he managed myriad projects and successfully developed several critical internal systems. He designed and managed Daiwa Securities’ system critical, multi-server, multi-protocol Novell networks years ahead of the banking and finance industries.
Mr. Geimer’s career history includes various other consulting and project management positions involved with the development and upgrading of commercial banking and other software applications. Former clients and employers include Marine Midland Bank, New York City; Prudential Bache Securities, New York City; Barclay’s Bank, New York City; and Software Engineering, New York City; The Fashion Group, NYC; The Fashion Association, NYC; and Dundick Engineering, Annapolis, Maryland.
Mr. Geimer’s technical experience and special "hands on" knowledge includes the following skills and areas of expertise: he is an expert in "C", "Clipper", "Foxpro" and "Basic" languages; he has extensive knowlege of Ethernet, TCP/IP, IPX/SPX and Ethertalk LAN routing and switching; he has extensive knowledge of communications and LAN/WANs; he has made extensive use of PC software including Windows, spreadsheets, word processing and multi-media; he has extensive Novell Netware and NT experience; and extensive knowledge of SWIFT inter-banking communications.
Mr. Geimer holds a Bachelor of Science Degree/Marine Engineering specializing in Mechanical, Electrical and Thermodynamic Engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point. He minored in Computer Science. He was awarded The Navy League’s Outstanding Electronics Student Award.
He is a member of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, MD Chamber of Commerce and the Severna Park, MD Chamber of Commerce.
